The steno machine court reporter using a computerized stenograph machine is the most accurate of any method, writing verbatim at speeds of 225 words per minute and faster. Though some schools are promoting voice recognition software, our surveys of national closed captioning companies indicate few if any are employing the voice recognition method as the accuracy is far from the required accuracy a realtime reporter or closed captioner can provide. Our studies indicate voice recognition will not be a viable realtime profession any time in the forseeable future, if ever.
